"Where you now stand is a result of thoughts and feelings that you have offered before, but where you are going is a result of your perspective of where you now stand."

The couple of weeks ending the year, I did a lot of reviewing and planning for 2014. I started the year fresh and clear on my goals that were aligned to my core desired feelings (if you missed last week’s blog on aligning your goals to your core desired feelings, go here and check it out!). After I gained clarity on my goals and felt ready to start my year and feeling great about it, something huge snuck up on me. Yes, that big R word “r-e-s-i-s-t-a-n-c-e!”

The Desire Map

I am so excited to start of the New Year with this month's Stuff we Love on Danielle Laporte's The Desire Map book! As this week's post summarizes, it is critical that we match our goals to our soul's desire.
"With The Desire Map, Danielle LaPorte brings you a holistic life-planning tool that will revolutionize the way you go after what you want in life.
Unapologetically passionate and with plenty of warm wit, LaPorte turns the concept of ambition inside out and offers an inspired, refreshingly practical workbook for using the Desire Map process to identify your "core desired feelings" in every life domain."  The book comes complete with self-assessment quizzes, worksheets, and complete Desire Mapping tools for creating the life you truly long for. You can even sign up for one of the many book clubs starting January 7th.  Go here for more information on Danielle Laporte and The Desire Map.

By this time, most of you are well on your way to setting your New Year’s resolution and goals for 2014. I’m for one am big on planning and setting goals, but this year I discovered something that I thought was just genius and may be the ticket that actually guarantees that you strive for the right goals and ones that you will actually enjoy pursuing.

This past week, I received a great question from one of our readers. She asked; “What do you think is the difference between fear and your gut instinct/intuition? Example, your gut is telling you not to do something vs. you being afraid to do it.”

Chances are, if you’re stepping out of your comfort zone, showing up, playing big and reaching for your dreams, you will come across some type of rejection and criticism. You may face someone being disappointed in something that you created or outright rejecting you and your business.

We lost an icon this past week. As all of you may know, Nelson Mandela transitioned this past Thursday. Anyone who knows of his story knows just what an amazing person he was and what he stood for.

Sandy Hook Promise

I am so proud to announce this month's feature on the Sandy Hook Promise (SHP). I remember, just like everyone being so devastated and heart broken when I first heard the news. SHP is a non-profit organization led by community members and several parents and spouses who lost loved ones in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012 that claimed the lives of 20 first-graders and 6 educators.

As their website states, their mission is twofold.

1)     Prevent the causes of gun violence by educating and empowering parents to make changes in their community that will not only prevent tragedies like Sandy Hook, but also the hundreds of thousands of other acts of gun violence every year in every state.

2)     Help our community through this tragedy by providing immediate and long-term financial, in-kind and other aid, on request, to families who lost loved ones, those wounded and others in our community impacted by this tragedy.

As we reach the one-year anniversary of this event, let us show our support to this community that is working hard to heal by going to their website here and joining 250k+ people who have made the Sandy Hook Promise.

So we’re 5 weeks away till the New Year. If you’re like most people, you started the year with resolutions and goals that you wanted to accomplish. You started off great, but as the months wore on, your determination started to fade and you found yourself back at square one.

Isn’t it funny how when we were kids, we were never afraid to ask for what we want? I see this clearly with my 3 year old. Whenever he wants something; he does not hesitate to ask. When he doesn’t get the response he likes, he thinks adding please will yield an automatic yes!
