"Where you now stand is a result of thoughts and feelings that you have offered before, but where you are going is a result of your perspective of where you now stand."

Start before you're Ready!

Written by

Back in March, I made the decision to enrol in Marie Forleo's B-School. It was something that I've been thinking about for a while but I felt I was not ready to make the commitment. I had a lot on my plate and felt that I needed a time when things were less hectic.

Plus, I thought to myself, I have a B.Comm degree, so what did I need B.School for? However, something inside me felt called. I had been following Marie's weekly videos, and she came highly recommended by many of my favourite teachers, so I went for it! I will save my experience of this amazing program for another post, but I wanted to write about something Marie always said to us that I feel is important to share with you today, and that is; start before you're ready!

At first blush, this may seem a little irresponsible or hasty, but I honestly believe that is one of the best things we can do to achieve our goals. Now, this does not apply to someone doing open heart surgery and the like, but for a lot of us, this applies. You see, so many of us are always "waiting" for the perfect time to do this or that. However, the truth is, there will never be a perfect time. There is always something we feel we must master or learn before we take the step, and if we left it till we felt ready, chances are; we will never do it.

When my sister and I first launched our Wellness Centre, we definitely started before we felt 100% ready. We had enough money to simply open the doors. Now I do recommend having more cash flow and at least 6-8 months of operating income, but the thing is; we were able to get through it. We learnt many lessons and now have transitioned and grown it to where it is today.

Just this morning, I did something that I felt I was not ready for. For months since doing B-School I've been thinking about rebranding My Empowered Living. I wanted to infuse my identity into it. If I'm honest with myself, I know I've been hiding behind my logo and did not want to put my face out there. Well just this morning I finally updated the cover, and used my picture as the profile picture vs., the logo on my Facebook page. I love my logo and its part of the brand, but I felt that it was time to step out from behind it. Did I feel ready? Heck no! However, because I am a believer in starting before you're ready, I took the step.

I meet so many people that have big plans and goals. They have an idea or areas of interest they want to pursue, but they sit on it, waiting for the "perfect time" and to feel ready. If these people are honest with themselves a lot of the excuses given for not starting go back to plain old fear. Fear of failure and even fear of success. What would people think? How will I manage? Don't get me wrong, I am big on planning, but I also feel that taking ACTION is the only way we can truly create the life of our dreams. It requires us taking a chance on something even though we don't feel 100% that all our ducks are in a row.

Another great thing that Marie always said is that "You cannot do it wrong!" This is something that I personally believe in. Every action you take gets you closer to your goal. It can either show what works best for you, lead you to success, or shows you what does not work so you can cross it off your list and look to another option. Either way, there are lessons to be learnt, so don't be afraid to start and take action. Action leads to progress and opportunities to help you reach your goals.

Hey there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering if
you knew where I could get a captcha plugin for my comment form?
I'm using the same blog platform as yours and I'm having difficulty finding one?
    Thanks a lot!
